Privacy policy

Innovobot Capital
and its affiliated entities, Innovobot Labs and Resonance Ventures (collectively, “Innovobot”, “we”, “our”), take your privacy seriously.

This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) describes how we collect, use and disclose your personal information when you use our websites or retain our services, and what your choices are in this regard.

This Policy does not apply to third-party websites, including those accessible through hyperlinks on our websites, and we are not responsible for them. Such websites have their own policies, which we invite you to review before submitting any personal information.

What is “personal information”?

Broadly speaking, “personal information” means any information about an individual that allows that individual to be identified, directly or indirectly, such as your name, email address or date of birth.

In general, personal information does not include your business contact details, such as your title, business address or business telephone number.

What personal information do we collect?

As part of your interactions with us, we may collect personal information such as:

  • your contact information, such as your name, address, email and phone number;
  • information you provide while we deliver our services, including sensitive personal information such as your racial or ethnic origin, health status or sexual orientation;
  • billing information, such as your billing address or bank details;
  • recruitment information, such as your resume.

In all cases, we limit collection to what is strictly necessary for the purposes described in the section “For what purposes do we use your personal information?”, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

Do we collect information through cookies?

We collect certain information through cookies and other tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”) when you browse our websites.

The cookies we use do not collect personally identifying information, but rather general information that we do not combine with any personal information.

We use essential and functional cookies so you can browse our websites and use their features properly, and to tailor your experience to your preferences (for example, your language). You can disable these cookies in your browser or mobile device settings, but your browsing experience may be affected.

We also use Google Analytics to collect information about your use of our websites (for example, the pages you visit most and error messages you receive). This information is anonymous and used only to improve the efficiency and operation of our websites. You can disable these cookies by downloading this module.

For more information about cookies, you can visit All About Cookies or contact us as set out in the “How to contact us?” section.

How do we collect your personal information?

Whenever possible, we obtain your personal information directly from you, with your consent, when you interact with us (for example, when you contact us for advice or funding, fill out a form on our websites or apply for a job). In some circumstances, we may collect it from third parties where you have consented or where the law allows.

How do we obtain your consent?

In general, we collect, use and disclose your personal information only with your consent. In some cases, the law allows us to do so without your consent (for example, when we must disclose information under a subpoena or court order).

By contacting us, voluntarily providing your personal information or browsing our websites, you consent to its collection, use and disclosure in accordance with this Policy. If you provide the personal information of a third party, you represent that you have that person’s consent or the authority to allow us to collect, use and disclose it in accordance with this Policy.

Subject to certain legal or contractual restrictions, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us as set out in the “How to contact us?” section.

For what purposes do we use your personal information?

In general, we use your personal information to:

  • create, maintain and improve our business relationship with you;
  • ensure the proper conduct of our business;
  • comply with our legal and regulatory obligations;
  • recruit staff and members of the company;
  • fulfill any other purpose authorized by law or to which you consent.

Who do we share your personal information with?

Internally, your personal information is available only to the partners, employees or agents of Innovobot, Innovobot Capital, Innovobot Labs or Resonance Ventures whose duties require it. We may also share it with third parties when required by law, or with service providers (for example, hosting providers). In the latter case, we take specific measures to protect your information (for example, contractual commitments and limited sharing).

Is your personal information transferred outside Quebec?

Personal information collected by Innovobot is hosted on secure servers that may be located outside Quebec, including elsewhere in Canada and in the United States. We may also share it with foreign business partners or contractors as part of providing our services. When your information is transferred outside Quebec, contractual commitments to protect its confidentiality may be put in place where required by applicable law.

How long do we keep your personal information?

We keep your personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy or to comply with our legal, ethical and regulatory obligations. It is then destroyed or anonymized.

How do we protect the confidentiality of your personal information?

The personal information we collect is kept confidential in accordance with applicable laws. For example, if you send us personal information by email or through a form on our websites, we use only what is strictly necessary to respond to and act on your message, and we keep it confidential.

We also take reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to protect your information against loss, theft and unauthorized access or use. For example, access to our offices and computer equipment is restricted, and our staff and company members are trained on the security and confidentiality of the information they can access.

What are your rights?

Depending on the applicable law, you have certain rights, including:

  • the right to the protection of the confidentiality of your personal information;
  • the right to access your personal information and have it corrected;
